Hospitality Industry
Hospitality industry is a vast sector which includes economical activities that directly or indirectly contribute or depend on travel, tourism and hospitality. This industry is a multifaceted sector which includes food & beverage services, event planning, tourism, entertainment etc. From luxurious hotels and resorts to cozy bed and breakfasts, from fine dining restaurants to fast-food chains, the hospitality industry plays a crucial role in providing experiences and services that enhance people's lives.
The hospitality industry focus on the customer satisfaction and creating memories for the guests. Hospitality industry is inherently people-centric, relying heavily on skilled professionals who excel in customer service, communication, and problem-solving. From front-line staff such as hotel receptionists and restaurant servers to managers, chefs, and event planners, every role within the industry plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional experiences to guests.
Hospitality industry is a part of larger enterprise know as the travel and tourism industry. There are many countries in the world which involve in hospitality industry. Such as France, Italy, Spain, Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka etc. Hospitality industry is one of the largest income generator for the countries. According to the Hospitality Global Market Report by Research and Markets, the global hospitality market is expected to reach $5.816 billion in 2027. (Barten and Barten, 2023)
There are different management type in hospitality industry.
• Restaurant Management
• Travel Management
• Hotel Management
These days, tourism contributes significantly to economic growth and plays a big part in the economy. In order to satisfy the requirements of tourists, offers an array of services, including accommodation, dining, and transportation. Depending on the reasons behind the visitors, leisure, entertainment, and other services are offered. Out of all these services, accommodation is a necessary component of tourism since without it, individuals traveling from their home to a vacation destination would not be considered tourists. Meeting the needs for food, drink, and entertainment both inside and outside of their hospitality facilities is part of accommodation. These services are aimed at meeting the needs of tourists’ recreation and food, as well as the specific nutrition and recreational services that form the hospitality industry (Minciu, 2001,p.261)
When considering about the hospitality industry there are variety of job opportunities for the candidates who are willing to have a experience in fast moving industry. Job market in the hospitality industry is open for locals and expatriates. In this industry the benefits which offers to the employees have a competitive advantage when comparing to the other industries. Competitive salary packages, accommodation, meal, uniforms, laundry facilities, insurances, entertainment, reputation, career development, flexible vacation plans, profit sharing, rest and relaxation, tips and bonuses, more customer interaction, job security, incentive programs, worker compensation, paid training and development opportunities, mental health coverage are some of the main benefits that an employee can gain from this industry. In this industry the candidates have considerable amount of job opportunities and in the other hand the employee turnover is also high.
